Sustainability
Zero waste
Anti-fast fashion
No use of harmful products to the environment
To start, one must make the distinction between “sustainable” and ethical “fashion”. A lot of fabrics may be made ethically, but they may not be sustainable products at all. The ethical aspect may be referring to how something is made, working conditions, and fair wages. Sustainable fashion is more concerned with the commercial strain, the environment and longevity. It also important to note that some “organic” fabrics may not be sustainable at all, as with some organic cotton fabrics, which use a lot of water during their dye process.
At Molini London we looked into “recycled polyester” as well as “peace silks” for our satin silk fabrics . We researched GOTS certified satin produced in non cruel processes, with no pesticides, fungicide or genetic sprays while also respecting biodiversity and without degrading the environment. Another important aspect was to make sure that the supply chain was entirely traceable from our fabric suppliers.
We settled for TESEO, based in Italy, and BOMBYX, based in Hong Kong as our two fabric suppliers.
This will mean our pieces are not only be made from sustainable fabric and be of extreme high quality, but will last longer and hopefully be beautiful valuable pieces in your wardrobe.
Lastly, we are a ‘made to order’ brand. So we don’t keep hundreds of items in stock. We only make what’s been ordered. Minimising waste.
Thanks for your support.
